Early Years

Every since I was a kid, I was always curious at how things worked, especially all my toys. I loved to take them apart, and put them back together. I even remember taking all the doorknobs off the rooms in my house only for my dad to yell at me to put them back on myself. To no surprise, I was able to do. I still remember the day I accidentally discovered what a capacitor was (Note to all, when taking apart disposable cameras, be sure to discharge that flash capacitor!).

Middle-High School

As a tinkerer, I just had to participate in robotics competitions. I did so for 2 years with great success. There, I was exposed to basic 3d modeling, and programming VEX robot systems in robot c. That was probably the first time I've ever programmed in my life. At this point, it seems like I'd be best pursuing a career path in Electrical Engineering, so that is what I focused on. In high school, there was a wonderful engineering academy which allowed high school students to learn essential tools such as solid modeling (We had used Siemens solidedge), MATLAB, basic circuits, civil engineering, and more.

Minecraft

This game literally changed my life, I don't know how else to put it. I would not be doing what I am today without it. I discovered minecraft in a summer of 2012, when one of my friends brought it up to me. I had no idea what it was, but I decided to play it, and what a great idea that was. I played in a single player world for a few days, then discovered that there were multi-player servers available for the game. Of course I played to build but I realized I was not much of an architect and most of my buildings looked like ass. Then I discovered redstone and my mind was blown. I began to learn how to build the basic logic gates in minecraft and next thing you know I was building a basic 4 bit calculator that could add and subtract. I joined a few, and of course with it being me, I became curious as to how these servers worked and how I could make my own. And the real story begins...

I had 0 clue about anything java, Linux, bash scripts, batch, etc. So setting up a simple minecraft server for the first time took me almost a week. But wow, once I set it up, and joined my own server it felt great! In no time, I asked my friend to join my server, giving him the ip 127.0.0.1 (lol what a dumbass), and to no surprise he was not able to join. Once again, I knew nothing about ip addresses, or firewalls. So here I am again learning what port forwarding was and how to find my ip. But I finally figured it out, and behold Keinett (Keicraft at the time) was born.

I didn't think much of my server as we only had like 5 people on at a time, but I had some great fun with the things I had to do. The next summer was when survival games/hunger games servers became extremely popular, so I decided to try and make my own. However, there was a problem. None of the existing minecraft plugins for survival games met my expectations.

So here I am, once again, decompiling existing minecraft plugins, reading Java tutorials, trying to figure out how these magical minecraft plugins work. After a few weeks of headache, I was finally able to get my first minecraft plugin working. It was in fact the first ever Java program I've ever compiled. To be honest I don't even remember doing a hello world xD

Throughout high school and even to today, I've learned so much about Linux administration, databases, Java, web development and more all because of minecraft. It sounds crazy but it really has put me where I am today. Sure, I love circuits and tinkering as a hobby but I really have become passionate about computers, programming, and learning how all these new technologies that appear every week work.

College

I started by taking electrical engineering, which went great for about 2 years. However, at this time I started to lose interest in it as opposed to the strong interest I had with computers. I ended up switching my major to computer science and I now only have one semester left. I like to challenge myself and I focused my courses on things I haven't taught myself yet such as computer security, networking, and computer vision. I would have been done by now but I had to take a semester and a half off due to a medical condition.

ANYWAYS, I think I'm done rambling about myself here.

TLDR; Shocked by a flash capacitor, played minecraft and decided to pursue computer science

If I think of anything else I'll add it at some point. O
